Launched in 2021 in Durham, NC following one of the loneliest years for millions around the world, CONTACT Line provides free, comprehensive support for loneliness through face-to-face online conversations with volunteer counselors. We are currently piloting our one-on-one video service, and we're onboarding new Listeners!

Become a Listener trained in active listening, loneliness support, and strength identification from wherever you are. Trained Listeners help people overcome their loneliness through 30-minute, one-on-one conversations via video call.

The training to become a Listener involves a didactic portion on the platform Canvas (~ 3-5 hours) and a workshop portion on Zoom where you get to put the skills you’ve learned into practice in practice conversations with our workshop leaders. Once you’ve attended enough workshops to feel comfortable taking on a real conversation, you can start adding your weekly schedules to our scheduling service. Scheduling is flexible.
