Computer Assistance

Hello! :)

We are the Adult Learning Program at Jane Addams Resource Corporation.

The pandemic has created a greater need for people to function virtually rather than IRL, and this has created quite a barrier for adults with low digital literacy skills.

We are seeking a volunteer who can help an adult learner with her computer skills for 90 minutes once a week. She needs help with basic internet skills, like using a video chat.

You will tutor her in the computer lab at our main office in Ravenswood. Every learner and tutor who meets in-person is required to have their temperature checked, fill out a COVID screening and wear a mask every time that they come onsite. The computer lab is disinfected on a daily basis.

The learner is available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30am - 3pm.

All JARC ALPS volunteers are provided with 12 hours of training before they begin with a learner and with curriculum to use with their learner.

Perks of volunteering include opportunities for free professional development through Literacy Works, Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition and other organizations.

To get started you attend an info session with the program coordinator, Wednesday Quansah. (That's me!) :)

If this opportunity sounds like a good match for you or if you would like more info feel free to call/text me at (312) 620-6689 or email me at

Mission Statement

The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) promotes strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC builds healthy communities through workforce, economic, and human development. Our mission is to help people improve their skills so they can advance both personally and professionally.

JARC is a key regional site for the Center for Working Families (CWF), an innovative program that is intended to increase financial stability among low-income residents in neighborhoods throughout Chicago. CWF helps families and individuals become more financially secure by providing clients with Financial Education, Income Supports, and Employment Services. We are accomplishing this goal through every phase of the job seeking process, from initial screening and overcoming barriers to one-on-one coaching and resume writing. We also provide one-on-one tutoring opportunities for adult learners. JARC's training programs target in-demand industries (CNC Machine Operation, Welding, IT) and occupations that offer family sustaining wages, benefits and authentic career paths.
