Computer Assistance

Hello! We are the Adult Learners Program at Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC).

We are seeking volunteers who can help adult learners with one-on-one computer skills for 90 minutes once a week. The learners often need help with basic internet skills, including using email, search engines, completing online forms, typing, etc.

You will tutor him/her in the computer lab at our location in West Humboldt Park.

Most tutoring takes place Mondays-Thursdays from 12pm- 7pm.

Every learner and tutor who meets in-person is required to be COVID vaccinated or receive a weekly PCR COVID test. We also ask everyone to have their temperature checked, fill out a COVID screening and wear a mask every time that they come onsite. T

All JARC ALPS volunteers are provided with 12 hours of training before they begin with a learner and with curriculum to use with their learner.

Perks of volunteering include opportunities for free professional development through Literacy Works, Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition and other organizations.

To get started you attend an info session with the Director of the Adult Learners Program, Liz Czarnecki.

If this opportunity sounds like a good match for you or if you would like more info feel free to call/text me at (224) 999-1302 or email me at lizc@jane-addams.org.

Thanks!
