Deltona Community Gardens Needs Volunteers!

Duties: Volunteers support the Deltona Community Gardens program by providing general assistance with garden tasks and/or upkeep to common grounds.

• Other organizational support functions such as grant writing, marketing, fundraising, newsletter writing and volunteer organization are also available

This is a great opportunity for people interested in gardening, interested in nature, like to help improvement their community. Volunteers may participate in scheduled or unscheduled workdays under the supervision of a designated garden manager.

• Typical tasks include weeding, mulching, pruning, composting and sprucing up. Other tasks may involve assembling or repairing raised beds, filling beds with soil, closing gardens for summer, installing irrigation systems, and helping with other various repairs.

• Other tasks include painting garden structures, assisting with community events or children’s programs

Qualifications: Willing to complete assigned tasks, sometimes with little supervision. Commit to scheduled volunteer hours. Willing to work hard; sometimes work can be labor intensive. Community Garden Volunteers are expected to dress appropriately for outdoor work, carry water with them at all times and be prepared for exposure to heat and insects.

A Parental Consent form is required for those volunteers under the age of 18.

• This is a Covid-19 Compliant Location where social distancing is practiced. Gloves and masks are provided and should be worn at all times.
