Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Metropolitan Family Service Hunger Relief Program! We welcome volunteers who are passionate about food access and community building to support our school-based food pantry program. Each year we give out over 1.5 million pounds of fresh produce and grocery staples to community members in East Portland with the help of volunteers like you. Our services are free of change and are open to anyone.
Our program offers multiple volunteer opportunities a week at 5 different schools in outer Southeast Portland. Volunteer shifts are mainly outside and are often very active, involving lifting, standing, and repetitive movement for 2-3 hours at a time. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about the physical nature of this position or would like to discuss accommodations. All volunteers must be able to comply with school district COVID regulations and policies.
If you would like more information about our services, you can visit metfamily.org/hungerrelief.
Thanks so much and we hope to hear from you soon!

Mission Statement
Metropolitan Family Service helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequality and social isolation. We serve children, families and older adults in the tri-county area. MFS is dedicated to building stronger communities by providing services, connecting people with resources, and offering meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Description
Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) volunteers serve in various capacities, depending on their areas of interest and abilities. Volunteers participate in on-going opportunities in one of three focus areas: helping children succeed, strengthening families and their connections to the community, and helping older adults and persons with disabilities live independently.
