Would you like to support the children of the families employed on the backside of Churchill Downs by working with our Family Program? The Backside Learning Center is in search of an intern who enjoys engaging with kids and can offer energy and organization to our programming. This position involves assisting students with homework help and literacy-focused programming, participating and facilitating group activities and enrichment. This opportunity takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:15 - 7:15. Spanish language skills helpful but not required. Proof of vaccine is required.

Description
The Backside Learning Center provides free educational services to the men and women who work with the thoroughberd horses in the barn area, or backside, of Churchill Downs and Trackside in Louisville, KY. Our programming includes English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL), technology workshops, citizenship tutoring, art class, and music class. All of our classes & tutoring depend on volunteers. Family Education Program focusing on afterschool homework assistance for equine workers' children,
Note: BLC hours are between 9:00 am-8:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Days, times and frequency of direct service will fall between these hours but will depend upon the work schedule and availability of students and volunteers.
