10.2.21 WaterFire Special Ops Volunteer Opportunity

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: WaterFire Providence

  • Spots available: 10+

As you may already know, WaterFire Providence’s 2021 Season has begun. There will be a Full Lighting on Saturday, October 2, 2021, celebrating "Then. Now. Next: 50 Years of Women at Providence College" Supported by Providence College . Providence College will be having Torch Bearers to be a part of the WaterFire Torch Procession in the WaterPlace Park Basin area downtown. In order to ensure the Torch Procession goes off without a hitch WaterFire Providence needs 'Special Ops’ volunteers to walk with the Torch Bearers as their safety, with an apron around their waist that includes a fire blanket and extinguisher. Along with that we also have volunteers acting as our crowd control around the basin area, making sure all visitors are clear of the area so the lit torches can enter the area safely without running into an outside person. Once the Torch Procession is over we break down the 'Special Ops’ Production and open it up for visitors to get closer to the river.

Special Ops

See WaterFire from a different perspective! Special Ops volunteers are one part ceremony leaders wearing a safety pouch and one part crowd control with the best seat in the house. Torch processions vary from 16 torches to over 100 torches. We will be appreciating Covid Heroes, Teachers and Veterans in 2021!

Description

WaterFire Providence Brings Art to the Community, by the Community

WaterFire Providence is known for the lightings that take place downtown with local artists and food vendors. We hope to get back to lightings downtown later this year but for now our main focus is the WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC)! Since the pandemic WaterFire continued to create art for the community, by the community at the WFAC.

WaterFire Providence Volunteers are an integral part of every event we host. They assist in all aspects of event production, special projects, and anything else we dream up.

Volunteers build, perform, inspire, engage, and enjoy! WaterFire volunteers come from all walks of life, and we appreciate the diversity and talents that are among them. Over the years, a network of volunteers has been established, and we are delighted at the community that they have become.
