Jingle Bell Run 5k Internship
The Arthritis Foundation is seeking an energetic and passionate sports management intern to assist with the planning, organization, coordination, and growth of a large 5k event in the Orlando community.
Our team of dedicated professionals and volunteers are leading the fight for the arthritis community and helping to conquer everyday battles through life-changing information and resources, access to optimal care, advancements in science, and building community connections.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning the race route, including logistics and route experience
- Secure in-kind donations needed for the 5k
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to manage the 5k route
- Promote the 5k event to the running community in Orlando and surrounding areas
- Secure prizes for top finishers
- Organize runner packets and packet pick-up
- Partner with local running clubs, gyms and fitness retailers
- Setup the route and start/finish line the day of the event
- Promote the Arthritis Foundation’s mission throughout the community
- Assist with administrative projects as needed
Requirements:
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Internet savvy with regular and consistent computer and internet access
- Self-motivated, team player with the ability to meet deadlines, remain flexible, and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, with keen attention to details
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a group and independently
- Some knowledge of 5k running events
- Access to reliable transportation
The Fall Jingle Bell Run 5k internship will run through December 2021, with the opportunity to extend if desired. The Jingle Bell Run event is Saturday, December 11, 2021 in Baldwin Park and attendance is necessary. This is a remote internship, but you must be located in the Orlando community. Occasional evening and weekend work will be needed. This is an unpaid career experience program; course credit may be provided.
