The Friends of the Library Programs team is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic volunteer to serve as the Vice President of Programs. This is an Executive Board level position and requires a commitment of one year.
Volunteer Responsibilities Include: coordinating, planning and implementation of all FOTL author programs, special events and field trips.
Ideal candidates must be comfortable working in a fun, fast paced environment. Be comfortable writing and responding to emails in a timely and professional manner, meeting deadlines and working with a team.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Manage reservations for events
- Create quarterly Programs calendars/timelines
- Brainstorm ideas for new and exciting events, upcoming authors and other programming ideas that are of interest to FOTL Members, Library patrons and the community
This is a fast paced, exciting and challenging role and an excellent opportunity to grow and develop skills in communication, marketing and event planning. Extensive training will be provided.

The Friends of the Huntington Beach Library is a volunteer, member supported, nonprofit organization that raises funds to focus public attention on the library, to enrich the library's collection of books, digital and other resources; and to develop and expand innovative educational programs, library services, and community outreach.
Description
The Friends of the Library (FOTL) was formed in July 1971 as a non-profit organization to help raise funds to purchase items and books not in the library's budget. Volunteers operate the Friends Gift Shop and Used Book Store, coordinate online books sales, marketing, public relations, the quarterly Newsletter, social media posts and produce hospitality programs and special library events.
