Program Description

Special Event Volunteers support various events at the Toledo Zoo throughout the calendar year. Events are typically held on weekends, and most are held in the evenings, with some events ending as late as 11:00 p.m. Volunteers will perform a variety of functions, including, but not limited to:

· Providing directions or information to event participants

· Pouring beverages/serving beverages to event participants

· Assisting staff with general event logistics (set-up, tear-down, registration, etc.)

Requirements

· Events may require sitting or standing, depending on the event or responsibilities

· You may need to lift and carry items up to 10 lbs. over short distances

Events marked with * require volunteers to be 21 years or older

· Dart Frog Dash (May)

· ZOOtoDO (September)

· Sip Sip Hooray Wine Fest* (September)

· ZOOtoberfest* (October)

· Roar & Pour* (October)

· Brewdolph Bash* (November)

· Polar Paws & Santa Claws Run (December)

· Other events/special projects as offered on the calendar

Time Commitment

Special Event Volunteers are required to:

· Submit a volunteer application, attend an interview, and complete an orientation

· Support at least 2 special events during the calendar year

· Event volunteers will be notified of events via email and can sign up for events through an on-line scheduling system.
