Being a hospice volunteer is a very special gift to give and a very rewarding experience. We are building our volunteer team for a local hospice and need your help!

Bristol Hospice relies on Volunteers to provide support services to our patients and families including companionship, comfort measures and respite. Specific tasks might include running errands, memory projects, playing music, reading or watching a movie. This is a rewarding opportunity for students (age 18+) interested in a career in medicine, social work or counseling; veterans and anyone else with a big heart. We also need support with administrative tasks in the office and telephone calls that can be made from home.

Description

Bristol Hospice Lancaster promotes quality and comprehensive hospice care for our patients, families, and communities. We are licensed in accordance with state and federal hospice regulations.

Bristol Hospice Lancaster, provides a wide-range of services to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of individuals at the end of life. We focus on an individualized plan of care which may include, as appropriate, the following services: nursing, physicians, hospice aides, spiritual support, therapy, dietary, counseling, volunteers, durable medical equipment, supplies, bereavement services and medications related to the terminal illness.

Volunteers are an integral part of hospice care. Whether it’s providing companionship to a person in the final months and weeks of life, or offering support to their family members and caregivers, the contributions of volunteers are essential to the hospice team.

Every hospice relies on volunteer support to provide excellent end-of-life care to each patient and family. By being a hospice volunteer, you can gain great personal satisfaction from knowing that you have made a difference in another person’s life.

Bristol Hospice provides training and supervision. We ask that surviving family members who wish to join volunteer staff wait a minimum of (1) year following the death of their loved one.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • One hour per week or one hour per month. We are flexible! Looking for someone to provide companionship or caregiver relief and willing to build a relationship with patients and their families.
  • Background Check Must be at least 18 Orientation and Training provided prior to Volunteering with patients. Background check and TB testing provided by Bristol Hospice.
