VITAS Healthcare is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families- just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members or friends who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house since they are devoted to caring for their loved ones. Relief care (sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers, getting the opportunity to run an errand, go to the movies or a doctor’s appointment can renew their energy. This better equips them for the responsibilities of caregiving.
We are currently looking for a Caregiver Relief volunteer with weekday availability to help with visiting a home patient in the South County/ Sunset Hills area, St. Louis, MO 63127. Caregiver relief volunteers provide non-medical services for home patients while family members take a break. This volunteer opportunity would be for approximately 2 hours a week.
VITAS Healthcare provides comprehensive training and orientation for hospice volunteering. Days and times for volunteering are flexible according to your availability. All Volunteer applicants in patient facing positions are required to have completed their COVID vaccinations prior to hire in order volunteer at VITAS.
