Do you have a passion for saving animals? Small Angels Rescue, Inc. is in need of a Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer) who has a passion for animal welfare and a deep commitment to saving the lives of the smallest and most vulnerable pets. 'Pocket Pets' are often treated inhumanely and discarded when no longer wanted, and it is our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats

Requirements:

• We prefer someone who is in, or around the DC/MD/VA area and has professional experience in Human Resources. This position could be remote.
• This position is best suited for someone who can offer approximately 1-5 hours per week
• Training on organizational processes and expectations will be provided

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for assessing, informing, and coordinating the volunteer requirements of our organization.

• Actively recruit new volunteers through online sources and keeping opportunities updated according to needs
• Seek volunteers from the community via outreach to local colleges/professional organizations/other non-profits
• Maintaining records of applicants during the recruitment process.
• Assist in retaining volunteers by ensuring there is appropriate support and training
• Participate in interviews (phone/Zoom/in-person) as needed
• Obtain references and background checks for candidates
• Participate in volunteer orientation including completion of documentation
• Conducting exit interviews with volunteers
• Preparing monthly updates for BOD Meetings and participating in annual Strategic Planning Meetings
