AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

FLAGLER COUNTY AARP TAX AIDE IS actively seeking new volunteers to fill counselor, appointment support and other positions.

Flagler County AARP Tax Aide is a district of the AARP Foundation.

We are looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our volunteer team. We'll provide the training and support to help you learn new skills, and you'll get a great feeling from helping those in need. The program is looking for individuals to volunteer virtually or in person in a number of roles to provide help to taxpayers. Our volunteers come from a variety of industries and span from retirees to college students.

Volunteers fill a variety of roles:

Counselors work with taxpayers directly by filling out tax returns. If you have no previous experience, you’ll get the training you need and will also receive IRS certification. Computer competency is a plus, and the ability to learn virtually (with a mentor) is needed.

The AARP Foundation envisions a country free of poverty where no older person feels vulnerable. We're tackling senior poverty by sparking bold, innovative solutions that help vulnerable older adults build economic opportunity and social connectedness - fostering resilience, strengthening communities and restoring hope. The Tax-Aide program is one of these solutions. Tax-Aide offers free personal tax preparation help to people of any age with low to moderate income but with a special focus on those 50 and older. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is a nation-wide service based in Washington DC but with locations throughout the country. We have two locations locally, one in Grass Valley and one in Lake Wildwood, as well as one location in Sierra County at Loyalton. These locations use an all-volunteer staff of client facilitators, tax counselors (preparers), technical coordinators, and administrative coordinators. Our service is completely free and open to people of any age. Volunteers receive hands-on training in tax preparation and are IRS certified. Whether you join us as a volunteer or take advantage of our tax preparation services, you will encounter a friendly, helpful, knowledgable, enthusiastic and highly functioning team of people.

  • Volunteer is requested to commit 1-2 days a week, from 8:30-4:00 from February 1st - April 15th. Prior to the season there is virtual training between December- January.
  • IRS Advance certification is level required, after training.
