Madison Fields

Therapeutic Riding Session

Madison Fields is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping riders of all abilities reach their personal goals. We serve children and adults with a variety of disabilities. Some riders are independent with mild impairments, while other riders depend on volunteers to help them balance or focus on directions. Volunteers help riders accomplish these goals every session.

There are three different volunteer opportunities within the therapeutic riding program: side walkers, horse leaders, and barn assistants. All of our volunteers participate in a Volunteer Orientation held at Madison Fields. We provide training and support, so you will be fully prepared to assist our riders. Previous horse experience is helpful, but not required!

Dates: Our needs vary slightly with each session, but we will make sure you feel prepared to help each session you sign up for! Lessons take place Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

About Madison Fields

Mission Statement

Madison House Autism Foundation is dedicated to creating awareness of the lifespan challenges autistic adults and their families face; and to finding, developing, and promoting the solutions that allow adults with autism to make choices, live as independently as possible, hold jobs, feel connected to their communities and become participating members of our society. Madison Fields is a premiere community-based agricultural resource center where people of all ability can access opportunities for job readiness training, education, recreation and healing. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where visitors can reconnect with themselves, one another, and the natural world.

Madison Fields is a project of Madison House Autism Foundation, a national 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The foundation was created in 2007 to address the lifespan challenges facing adults with autism. Madison Fields offers an exciting opportunity to model what is possible when we as a community empower people of all abilities to participate and contribute. At Madison Fields, we recognize the strength in a diverse, inclusive community working together to help one another achieve their greatest potential. It is our feeling that we all grow best when we are growing together.
