Brookdale Hospice in Akron & Medina are looking for volunteers to visit with our residents in Hospice. We have many for you to choose from. Our residents have had a rough time and are in desperate need of visitors. They are lonely. You can truly make a difference
We look for an hour a week. This time is spent visiting with the resident, hearing their story, playing a game, reading a book, playing music for them on your phone or simply holding their hand! Some of our residents do not have any visitors at all. You can bring so much joy to someone who is lonely. It's like visiting with Grandma or Grandpa.
We do require fingerprints, urine drug screen and tb testing but we pay for everything. I will make it as easy as possible for you. When we meet, I will talk about COVID 19 precautions.
Please consider bringing some joy to someone who is simply lonely. You could make a new friend!
I look forward to hearing from you and to getting you started.

Mission Statement
Enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity.
Description
The philosophy at Brookdale Hospice is that life is much more than physical health; it also includes the health of the human spirit. When physical health begins to fail, the nurturing of the spirit becomes critical for maintaining the dignity of the individual.
Volunteers are an important part of our hospice team, filling roles that include direct contact with patients and clerical support. Medicare requires the utilization of volunteers alongside paid clinical and administrative staff. Hospice volunteers describe their work as gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful. We value our volunteers greatly.
