The Humane Society Of Sarasota County relies on hundreds of volunteers a year to help our mission and our vision. Teens are able to shadow HSSC staff members weekdays after school and on weekends learning how to care for our cats and dogs. We are able to assist teens earn hours toward school projects and scholarships while providing vial enrichment. Examples of tasks are: Social Media Content, Photography, Washing cat/dog bowls/litter pans Laundry Mop/Vacuum Floors, Cleaning bathrooms and viewing rooms, and windows Spot-clean cat/dog kennels Sanitize the covered turf yards Reset play yard (pick up toys, waste, refill water bucket) Enrichment (pupsicles, burritos, Click-for-Quiet). Incorporated in 1952 as Sarasota’s first nonprofit animal welfare organization, the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) has grown to be the area’s premier no-kill shelter. A home is found for every adoptable pet n our care.
We take tremendous pride in being the area’s premier no-kill shelter, and with that comes the responsibility to lead by example. Our mission will always be focused on saving the lives of cats and dogs and enriching human lives along the way.
