AmeriCorps members serving in the EOCP coach people with disabilities, refugees and low-income individuals in financial literacy, adult education, employability skill development, and tax preparation.
Members provide coaching to clients to help them improve their financial literacy, employability skills, and adult education skills; Communicate daily with Peckham staff regarding clients’ progress; Collaborate with community partners to coordinate on-site classes and link clients with community services; Provide 1:1 follow up and support for Peckham staff-led employability classes, including Adult Education; Provide classroom instruction as assigned; Attend VITA tax training sessions to become a VITA certified tax preparer; Travel the Greater Lansing area to provide tax preparation services; Collaborate with community partners/volunteers to coordinate on-site tax prep services and link clients with community resources; Travel to satellite locations in the Greater Lansing area to provide English and adult education coaching to Peckham clients; Participate in community service projects; Document service activities according to program requirements utilizing multiple databases.

Description
AmeriCorps Economic Opportunity Coaching Program AmeriCorps members serving in the Economic Opportunity Coaching Program provide individualized coaching to Peckham clients and eligible community members from Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Calhoun counties.
Members coach people with disabilities, refugees, and low-income individuals in the areas of financial literacy, adult education, employability skill development, and tax preparation in an effort to help them achieve and maintain economic stability.
There are 14 AmeriCorps slots available with the Economic Opportunity Coaching Program; 7 full-time, 5 half-time, and 2 quarter-time members. The Economic Opportunity Coaching Program began in 2013 and is funded through the Corporation for National and Community Service.
