Senior Dining is a program with the Council on Aging that provides local seniors with a hot meal for lunch at one of four dining sites, Monday through Friday, in Buncombe County. This listing is for the Weaverville Senior Dining site.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to pick up hot meals from Moose Cafe in Asheville and deliver them to the First Baptist Church in Weaverville. The timeframe is from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM, Monday through Friday.

Requirements for this role:

  • Reliable, smoke-free transportation that passes NC safety inspection
  • Driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance coverage ($100,000/300,000 minimum)
  • Clean driving record and background check
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
Details for this assignment:
  • The volunteer will pick up the empty insulated containers from First Baptist Weaverville at 9:30 AM
  • The volunteer will then deliver the empty containers to Moose Cafe
  • Moose Cafe staff will assist in loading the hot meal containers into the volunteer's vehicle
  • The volunteer will deliver the containers of hot meals back to First Baptist Weaverville
  • Dining site personnel will assist the volunteer in unloading the hot meal containers from their vehicle
Right now, we are looking for volunteers to fill this need Monday through Friday on the 4th and 5th week of each month. If you have questions about this opportunity, call (828) 277-8288 ext. 1317.
