TITLE: Resident Campground Host
TIME FRAME: October 1st-November 30th, 2021

OVERVIEW: Lake Griffin State Park is a small park in Lake County, with a nice and quiet campground. The State Park is a great place to relax with a beautiful waterway out to Lake Griffin, the 8th largest Lake in the State of Florida. A campsite is provided at no cost. Resident Campground Hosts must provide their own RV, camper, or trailer.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: We are looking for volunteers to help out in the campground while residing on Park property. Performs general maintenance of facilities and grounds in the campground. Tasks include, but not limited to, daily restroom cleaning and stocking, campsite checks for cleanliness as campers depart and service as an informational resource to campers.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS: 20 hours per week per site required. Of course more is okay!!!!
TRAINING: All trainings will be provided on-site and include signing the volunteer agreement and DEP Annual Combo Training in the Volunteer Portal.
BENEFITS TO THE VOLUNTEER: Volunteer provided with a T-shirt and a name tag; Upon completion of 50 hours, volunteer will receive an annual family pass for volunteer and family at the park where the hours were worked; Upon completion of 250 hours, volunteer will receive a special volunteer annual pass for all Florida State Parks (request all passes from the Volunteer Coordinator); Inclusion in all park staff gatherings (pot lucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.); Invitation to district Volunteer Appreciation gatherings
POSITION GOAL/OUTCOME DESIRED: To become familiar with the daily operations and maintenance of the park; Gain a better understanding and appreciation of what the park- and the Florida Park Service as a whole- has to offer; Gain a sense of fulfillment from the volunteer experience; Gain a sense of appreciation for the hours contributed supporting the Florida Park Service's Mission Statement "To provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources."
