The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans ( CIANA ), Education team is seeking volunteers that would be great role models for our middle school students by supporting them in completing their homework, strengthening their academic skills, and leading fun virtual activities for students.



Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Tutors will support the Middle School students by offering one-on-one virtual homework help to students in grades 6-8. Homework help sessions are conducted via Google Meets. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to lead extracurricular activities remotely. Due to occasional schedule changes, volunteer tutors will also substitute for other volunteer tutors at times!


  • Passionate, committed, engaging!
  • Experience in working with children is preferred, but not required.
  • Background in mathematics and/or English is preferred.
  • Stable internet connection
  • Gmail account
  • Volunteers that are available at least 3 days per week, Mon. - Thur. will be preferenced.
  • Volunteers must be 18 + years of age at the time of application.

Time Commitment

  • On-going; Immediate hire (flexible)
  • Mon & Wed. anytime between 3 PM - 6:00 PM.

Training/Support Provided

Volunteers will undergo a brief and mandatory training with CIANA staff.

To provide special transitional services which will lead to the successful integration of newcomers into American society while continuing to maintain pride in their own cultural heritage .


Immigrants and refugees will be provided with the tools to emerge from poverty, isolation, and linguistic barriers to become full, productive American citizens. Our services promote family well-being and stability, provide counseling and support services, and expose newcomers to the social, economic and educational opportunities available to them. Professional social services will include ESOL and civics classes, citizenship preparation, adult literacy, child welfare and youth services, legal and immigration assistance, financial literacy, micro credit and finance, employment assistance, and information and referral services. Newcomers will gain a deeper understanding of western culture and how to incorporate its positive qualities into their lives without fear of losing their culture and identity; it will help them shape an identity that encompasses the best of both worlds and prevents their isolation and marginalization.
