The Red Cross Biomedical Services program is seeking a Volunteer Administrative Specialist to support the Blood Transportation Program. This role will support our Transportation Program Staff and Volunteers, who ensure that blood products are collected, processed and delivered to local hospitals to meet our communities needs. This role has a tremendous impact in supporting the need for blood throughout our region and beyond.
Volunteers will be working in-person, at the Portland Red Cross Office alongside the Transportation team to perform various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations. Consider joining a team of compassionate and driven individuals, helping meet the demand for life saving blood products throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.
* Perform general office administrative functions
* Draft reports, data entry, etc.
* Assist in scheduling, booking, and communicating
* Maintain excellent organization and presentation of work area
* Call volunteers to assist in filling open driving positions for both blood drives and hospitals.
* Maintain driver manifests.
* Adaptability to accept direction and work independently and as part of a team
* Professional, clear, and diplomatic communication skills
* Computer skills required (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Excellent organizational and customer service skills
* Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machine and phone
* Detail-oriented with the ability to spot errors
4 hours per week, during weekday/business hours. Optimum 6-month volunteer commitment.
