#911 #911Day #911DayofService
This year, Americans across the nation will mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. To commemorate this occasion, we invite you to honor the victims and heroes of that day through acts of service that will recapture the spirit of unity that swept the nation in the wake of the tragedy of 9/11. Hundreds of thousands of brave men and women continue to serve every day, having answered the call to duty as members of our nation’s armed forces who risk it all to defend our nation. This day of service also honors their commitment and sacrifice.
Join United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) in expressing our gratitude to our community’s first responders and veterans by writing heartfelt messages to those who serve! Instructions are provided to guide you with this opportunity.
Note Writing Instructions:
Give back to our community’s first responders and veterans by taking some time to write one (or more!) thank you notes.
Step 1. Think about what September 11th means to you and the sacrifices first responders and veterans made and continue to make for our community and country.
Step 2. Write those sentiments on a blank letter. 9/11 Day-UWNNS letterhead is included for your use. Be sure to address the message to EITHER a veteran OR a first responder!
Step 3. Follow one of the options below to deliver to UWNNS. UWNNS will handle the distribution of the messages.
Instructions for a 100% Virtual Experience:
For volunteers seeking a 100% virtual opportunity, please share your completed messages through email. Scan/photograph your handwritten messages and email them to volunteers@uwnns.org with your digital files attached.
Option to Drop Off at UWNNS:
If you are able to and choose to deliver the physical copies of your notes, please carefully consider the following. The UWNNS office is following CDC guidelines to keep everyone safe, including the wearing of face coverings and asking anyone who is not feeling well to NOT enter our building. A mailbox is available inside our office for notes to be dropped off. In addition to the messages, please include your name, email, and the number of letters you are dropping off. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and our location is located at 639 Isbell Rd, Suite #460, Reno, NV, 89509.
