About the role

BrainGenix aims to create a scalable and distributed neuron simulation system for Whole Brain Emulation (WBE). For these purposes a Neuroscience Consultant is needed to give input on the development and underlying research on which the system is constructed.

Development of BrainGenix began in 2018 with the Herculean goal of driving state of the art technology in WBE. With such an ambitious goal, BrainGenix has become a multifaceted project with needs for several different roles and professions. If you're interested in helping with the project, please contact us!

The BrainGenix project is a part of the Carboncopies Foundation.

About Carboncopies

At the Carboncopies Foundation, we believe that the possibilities and opportunities enabled by Whole Brain Emulation (WBE) represent the most promising technological path to overcoming our fundamental limitations as a species.

To achieve WBE, essential advances are needed in neurobiology, neurophysiology, brain imaging, micro- and nanoscale technologies, computational neuroscience, computing hardware, and even the philosophy of mind. We provide peer networks and project opportunities to scientists working on challenges critical to whole brain emulation and recognize that there is a long road ahead of us.

Responsibilities

The BrainGenix Department is seeking a Neuroscience Consultant to help guide the ongoing development of our BrainGenix software. This includes, but isn't limited to:

  • Providing reference implementations of use-case scenarios with existing third-party neuro-emulation software.
  • Identifying shortcomings of existing third-party neuro-emulation software, as well as desired features for BrainGenix.
  • Helping with writing BrainGenix documentation where it relates to neuroscience.
  • Testing BrainGenix UX software from the perspective of a neuroscience specialist.
  • Providing consultation to the BrainGenix team on neuroscience topics.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the key qualification is to have neuroscience expertise and experience. Anything experience related to writing and using neuroscience emulation software would be a major advantage.

Beyond that, the following qualifications and/or experience aren’t required but would be helpful for you in taking on this role:

  • Ability to work independently, plan personal workload effectively and delegate.
  • Interest in computer programming, code languages and software.

In addition, these are some interpersonal skills we’re looking for:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving
  • Verbal/Written Communication
