The Tangency Foundation is a nonprofit activism literacy organization. Our Activist HQ initiative serves as a media platform for educational resources such as podcasts, a community journal, and YouTube channel. We offer annual scholarships, as well as community impact project grants. We are working towards developing our website to offer activism courses - essentially compilations of educational resources on different areas of interest (i.e., climate literacy, LGBTQ+ literacy, etc.). Eventually this will serve as a template for the Activist HQ app which will serve as a microvolunteering and activism literacy education center.

As of right now, the administrative and strategic operations are handled by one person. Our projects are managed by individual volunteers. We have a small budget, and work entirely off of volunteer support. We are looking for additional board members who are willing to invest their time into growing our organization. My bandwidth is decreasing and I am looking for individuals to help co/manage projects.

Interested individuals should submit a cover letter with any questions, as well as any projects listed above they would like to get involved in. We are looking for at least five hours each week of commitment. These are unpaid positions, strictly volunteer.

Mission Statement

The Tangency Foundation is a nonprofit environmental education which focuses on education and conservation. Our goal is to provide a platform for conservation which provides social, economic, and pluralistic value for participants through activism activities. We aim to engage the public in novel ways to educate them about the impacts of climate change, indigenous advocacy issues, and STEM education.

Description

We started out as an impromptu clean-up crew for plastics on Miami beaches, and slowly grew to include educational presentations in our assortment of activities. We are currently developing an open-access STEM education curriculum for use in low-income school districts. We offer assistance in setting up home-gardens and aquariums alongside educational resources on the STEM principles involved in maintaining them.
