We are looking to fill two volunteer opportunities for Career Coach and Instructor. Teach, career coach, mentor, guide, and support adult DC resident women and men,18 and older enrolled at the YWCA National Capital Area Career Education and Training Center.

Career Coaches will mentor, support, and guide create a resume and cover letter, also career plan using web-based tools and guided checklists, and other resources provided by the YWCA NCA to support the goals of obtaining employment.

Instructors will commit to providing instruction in the subjects of Soft Skills, Math, Reading Writing Communication. The curriculum is provided using an online platform. Be available to meet during day hours with students 2-3 times a week for up to 1 hour for 12 weeks

All Volunteers Must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be proficient in English
  • Commit to teaching up to 3 days a week, up to 3 hours a week for 12 weeks
  • Commit to tutor or coach up to 2 days a week
  • Complete orientation and training
  • Have regular access to email
  • Have a desire to work with adults from different cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds

Founded in 1905, YWCA National Capital Area dismantles barriers faced by women, girls, and people of color as they work to develop and sustain healthy lives. Women and girls come to us in times of transition for job training and career counseling. They come for mission-based skill-building programs for their families. They come in times of crisis as survivors of rape or domestic violence.
