The Fairfax Station Railroad Museum seeks volunteers to staff its admissions desk and gift shop during open hours. The museum offers a unique opportunity to give back to the community by helping to preserve local history in a family-friendly setting.
Duties include:
-- Assisting with general opening and closing of museum;
-- Verifying opening and closing cash box balances;
-- Recording admissions and sales using our Square system;
-- Greeting visitors.
Museum hours are 1:00-4:00 on most Sundays. Volunteers should arrive thirty minutes before opening and expect to remain 15-30 minutes after closing to fulfill their duties. We also have four to six weekend events annually with extended hours. We are not open on weekdays.
Training will be provided. A senior volunteer will be paired with new volunteers to help them become familiar with processes and procedures.
Volunteers should be comfortable with visitors of all ages, ranging from pre-school to seniors. If you are a "people person," this is the place for you!
The Fairfax Station Railroad Museum follows current federal, state and local guidance regarding COVID-19.
