After School Arts Program Intern and Volunteer Position
Our After School Arts Enrichment Program needs amazing volunteers and interns like you to help our students thrive and learn to the best of their abilities. After School Assistants may take on roles such as walking to pick students up from school, helping with homework, and helping with recreational activities and art projects.
Hours
Our After School Program hours for staff and volunteers are M-F 2pm-6:30 pm. Interns and Volunteers may be scheduled on specific days per week but must be committed to the same schedule each week for the entire semester.
After School Interns will need to be at One For All by 2pm Monday through Friday to help prep our activities and classroom for the day. At 3PM Interns will walk to the local elementary school to pick up students and walk back to the center with them. From 3:30PM-5pm Interns will assist in classroom management, Individual student/teacher homework help, getting to know and mentoring students. At 5PM the group will start wrapping up and cleaning the classroom. At 5:30 Interns will lead closing circle time with the students which will involve discussions and team building activities with the students and volunteers.
Commitment
After School Interns must be committed to the program for the full semester. Schedules may vary but we would prefer Interns to be available for at least 2 consistent days each week.
Learning Objectives for Student Interns
After School Student Interns will learn the structure of an after school enrichment program and why the routines and structures in place are important for student learning.
After School Student Interns will learn how to implement and run opening and closing circle times for youth and how to encourage self expression and social/emotional wellbeing.
After School Student Interns will learn how to plan, prep and implement creative arts activities within an elementary aged after school classroom.
