Seeking Elementary School Volunteers in Norfolk County this fall

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: NORFOLK COUNTY RSVP

  • 7 people are interested

Norfolk County RSVP invites adult volunteers age 55+ to join RSVP and participate in its county-wide Elementary School Partner Program. Volunteers are matched with host teachers in elementary school classrooms (K-5) to assist in providing one-on-one and small group support for young learners who would particularly benefit from extra attention, typically in reading or math.

RSVP welcomes caring adults with a range of backgrounds, life experiences, and expertise who want to make a difference in the lives of schoolchildren. Whether you have never assisted in a classroom before or are a recently retired teacher, we're interested in talking to you about becoming a school volunteer for this coming fall.

RSVP partners with elementary schools in the following towns and cities: Dedham, Norwood, Walpole, Randolph, Weymouth and Stoughton. We make every effort to match volunteers with schools/classroom assignments based on individual preferences (e.g., town, classroom role, availability). School volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 1 hour per week throughout the school year, ending in June.

A CORI background check and interview with one of the RSVP staff is required for all interested school volunteers. Participation in two 2.5 hour orientation and training sessions is required for all new school volunteers in order to help facilitate a smooth transition into the classroom.

Norfolk County RSVP is funded by the Norfolk County Commissioners and a federal grant from AmeriCorps Seniors to encourage and support community service and volunteerism at a national and local level.
