Common Threads Mission

Common Threads is a national nonprofit that provides children and families cooking and nutrition education to encourage healthy habits that contribute to wellness. We equip under-resourced communities with information to make affordable, nutritious and appealing food choices wherever they live, work, learn, and play. We know that food is rooted in culture and tradition, so we promote diversity in our lessons and recipes, encouraging our participants to celebrate the world around them.

Common Threads’ DC/Government Relations Board

We are seeking passionate, enthusiastic applicants to our Government Relations Board to support Common Threads’ government relations and public policy efforts. Members help keep Common Threads staff abreast of and facilitate introductions to key stakeholders, including elected officials, policymakers, and donors (corporate, foundation or individual). Board members work also support Common Threads’ fundraising and thought leadership events (in Washington, D.C. and other markets) by inviting guests and serving as host committee members.

Board members’ responsibilities include participation in Government Relations Advisory Board meetings (3-4 times a year) and supporting the CEO and other staff as advisors throughout the year.
