The AmeriCorps Construction Crew Leader plays an integral part in building new Habitat OC homes. They develop and enhance their construction and supervision skills through leading groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowners in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain site safety through modeling of safety practices and guidelines as dictated by OSHA and Habitat OC Construction Team.
- Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks, including but not limited to demolition, site-prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
- Lead small groups of volunteers, and facilitate safe and positive experiences for everyone working on site. Use volunteer management techniques to facilitate positive experiences for volunteers and homeowner families working on site.
- Help with materials management on site and at the Habitat OC construction warehouse and storage trailers. Pick up and organize materials needed for projects.
- Provide on-site orientations and safety talks to groups of volunteers and homeowner families.
- Assist with construction prep and clean-up on build site at end of day
- Attend regular staff meetings. Participate in planning and debriefing meetings as needed.
- Attend and participate in select Habitat organization events and community projects.
Volunteers receive a monthly stipend and living allowance.
This is a full-time position, Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00-4:00.
