Volunteer Action for Aging

Heart in Hands

Volunteer Action for Aging is a volunteer service program that provides opportunities for seniors designed to increase socialization and an overall sense of well-being.

Senior client is seeking a volunteer to assist him in learning to use his Alexa device to improve his quality of life. Due to a medical diagnosis, he is unable to move and relies on technology to make phone calls and turn on his television. He needs assistance linking his phone to his Alexa so that he may make phone calls using a voice command.

Due to COVID 19 seniors and disabled adults are more isolated than ever. Your support can make a difference! With the help of volunteers, seniors learn to navigate through their different tech-gadgets in order to maintain their independent life and connection with others.

Qualifications:

  • complete 1 brief online training session
  • pass background check and reference check
  • Time Commitment: 2 -4 hours / month (depending on senior's need) or more hours if you'd like
  • social, reliable, patient, trustworthy, and caring
