North Marin Community Services hosts a weekly food pantry every Tuesday for North Marin residents. Shifts are available in the morning (8:30 - 11:30), and afternoon (12:30 - 3:30). The morning shift is responsible for unloading and unpacking food deliveries from the SF-Marin Food Bank, and then packaging up an assortment of fresh and packaged food for families. The afternoon shift is responsible for organizing the flow of clients and distributing bags at our outdoor, drive-through pantry. The first step in volunteering for the food pantry is to complete an application, which you can access here if you are aged 15-17, and here if you age 18+. Once the application is completed, you will receive an email with links to sign up for our upcoming food pantry dates.
If you are seeking community service hours for court-ordered volunteering, please note that we can only accept minor traffic violations and some alcohol/drug violations for minors. You will need to send a copy of your ticket/citation with your volunteer application.

What We Do: Both Novato Youth Center (NYC) and Novato Human Needs Center (NHNC) had over 40-year histories of serving people in need in Novato and our surrounding communities. Now stronger together as North Marin Community Services (NMCS), our 60 staff and 300 volunteers serve 10,000+ youth, adults and families annually. Currently over 75% of those we serve are from low-income families, and our three program areas (Child Development, Health & Wellness, and Family & Community Engagement) work together to yield great impacts.
