The Power of Hospice Pet Therapy:
Hospice Pet Therapy is so much more than a simple visit with an animal. Animals and their handlers have the unique ability to bring transformative joy and comfort to patients. Hospice pet therapy, using the longstanding bond between humans and animals, brings joy, humor, unconditional love and soothing companionship to those on the end of life journey.
Benefits of Hospice Pet Therapy:
- Aids in coping with terminal diagnosis, anxiety, depression, pain and loneliness
- Provides companionship and unconditional affection
- Provides tactile and sensory stimulation
- Helps reduce blood pressure and physical pain
- Introduces an activity that does not require verbal communication
* If the above opportunity interests you and your licensed therapy animal, please contact the Compassus Volunteer Coordinator at (517)-703-6734 or send an email with your interests to andrew.keller@compassus.com *
