Salvation Army Social Services in Daytona Beach, Florida will be overseeing Angel Tree for the East Volusia/Flagler County areas and we are looking for volunteers who would like to be part of helping local families provide gifts for their children this Christmas.

With the financial impact that COVID has had on families in our community, we know the need will be great and we want to do all we can to help as many families as possible this Christmas. This means the more volunteers we have available to help pull all this together, the better.

One of the early phases of the Angel Tree ministry involves pulling together all the supplies that will be needed for stores and businesses in the area who will be hosting an Angel Tree gifts drop-off location. We will also be working together to put up a Christmas tree in our lobby and placing angel tags on the tree. If you enjoy working on light assembly and decorating projects, we would love for you to join us for during this week of Angel Tree season preparation.

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

William Booth was the founder of the Salvation Army, which started in London in 1865. When asked his purpose, his response was, "While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight. While little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight. While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight. While there is a drunkard left, While there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, While there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight-I'll fight to the very end!"

Since that time, the Salvation Army has grown into a worldwide mission with soldiers, officers and volunteers all around the globe, responding to the call to serve, gladly proclaiming, "I'LL GO!"

The Salvation Army of East Volusia & Flagler Counties currently has social services, thrift store, & Center of Hope Substance Abuse Treatment Center. Every year, Angel Tree providing gifts for kids in the community; and bell ringers who help raise funds that allow us to serve our own community all throughout the year. While the corps officers and Salvation Army staff here in Daytona are working fervently and faithfully to keep all our services running and set goals for new and exciting things, having volunteers join the ranks in doing God's work makes a tremendous difference in pulling all the components together. We continue to call out for others to come join our efforts in reaching out and serving our community. Will YOU go?!
