Momentum Collective Inc. is partnering with the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Alexandria City Public Schools, and Alexandria Department of Recreation to provide an after-school arts program to elementary youth who live in subsidized housing in Alexandria, VA. The drama/acting instructor will teach beginner level youth the fundamentals of acting and prepare them to perform monologues and skits for performing arts showcases during the school year as well as musical productions.

Volunteers will also receive support on how to incorporate academic elements into the acting classes. This opportunity is for one hour between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, and site location will be dependent on availability. The opportunity will require direct and in-person interaction with youth.

Areas of focus include:
Improv
Method acting
Character development
Practical aesthetics
Blocking
Social media video skits

Program participants will also be featured in a web-series that will be created during the program year.

Group size will not exceed 12 participants. Volunteers must be comfortable working with youth from various socio-economic backgrounds. We prioritize practical aesthetics as our pedagogy but welcome additional schools-of-though around dramatic instruction.
