Volunteers must be at least 18-years-old to visit patients. ProMedica requires all volunteers to get the annual flu shot and provides it for free. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID. Volunteers must complete two TB skin tests (available for free in the ProMedica Ann Arbor office), and a fingerprint background check (paid for by ProMedica). We provide extensive training to ensure volunteers are fully prepared for their work. All visitation volunteers must complete an N95 mask fit test in the ProMedica office in Ann Arbor.

ProMedica Hospice provides quality care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their families and caregivers. Formerly known as Heartland Hospice, ProMedica Hospice is a nonprofit organization. We enhance the quality of life of those we serve through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by using an interdisciplinary approach in delivering care to patients--either in their own homes or extended care facilities--while working cooperatively with other health care providers and other community resources. ProMedica Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care irrespective of ability to pay.
