Volunteers at First Tee - Greater St. Louis are part of an outstanding team! They help us provide a high quality experience and exceptional service to our members and their families. As a volunteer, you’ll get a firsthand look at a leading-edge junior development program that uses golf as a tool to teach life skills and a sense of satisfaction and pride knowing you are making a difference.

First Tee - Greater St. Louis is able to accomplish so much thanks in large part to the time, skills, and generosity of our volunteers. From assisting coaches to administrative help, any skill you have that you can volunteer we’d like to hear about it! First Tee - Greater St. Louis is a non-profit organization that can only do so much with the resources we have. By adding volunteer staff members to our current staff we will be able to make a greater impact on our community.

OVERVIEW

First Tee - Greater St. Louis believes positive youth development happens through a meaningful, quality relationship between the coach and participant. Therefore, we are always looking for high quality volunteers to serve as mentors and administrative assistants. Volunteers with knowledge and experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring or playing golf are ideal as mentors. Volunteers with office and technical experience are well-suited as administrative assistants.

The following are the general dates of each season:

Spring - early April to the end of May
Summer - mid-June to mid-August
Fall - end of August to mid-October

Safety, Mentoring, Curriculum, and Commitment...Insuring the physical and emotional safety of the young people in our care is of critical importance. Our goal is to build young women and men of good character as we walk alongside them as mentors in a nurturing way. Our curriculum emphasis is on core values, life skills, and healthy habits. Golf skills are of secondary importance.

Volunteer Coaches (i.e., mentors) assist with specific classes during our spring, summer and fall seasons and on an ad hoc basis at other times during the year. Our classes meet once per week for 8 weeks. Volunteer Coaches commit three hours per week in a given season. Volunteer Admins assist with a wide range of office projects of varying length.

Lastly, we encourage our volunteers to see if their company will match their volunteer hours with a financial contribution to First Tee - Greater St. Louis.
