We are so excited to begin planning for our Central Carolina Out of the Darkness Walk Season. As we gear up for the work ahead, we need your help! Right now we are seeking volunteers to help set-up for the Central Carolina Out of the Darkness Walk. The Central Carolina Out of the Darkness Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 9th with registration starting at 1pm, therefore we need assistance in the morning to get everything set up and ready to roll.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walks, held in hundreds of cities across the country, are the core of the Out of the Darkness movement, which began in 2004 by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). These events give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost. We encourage you to join us as not only a volunteer, but also a walk participant. You can register for the walk at https://afsp.org/triad.
If you have questions about volunteering for the Central Carolina Out of the Darkness Walk, please email Sarah Cothren (AFSP-NC Associate Area Director) at scothren@afsp.org.
