This is a virtual opportunity for Teens (11 - 18) in the greater Los Angeles Area at the Eagle Rock Branch Library for the Los Angeles Public Library.Teen Council members are youth leaders and mentors in the library. In addition to being registered as teen volunteers and carrying out routine volunteer tasks, Teen Council members also serve as advocates on behalf of other teens in the Eagle Rock Branch Community. They help advise on teen programming and purchases for the young adult collection. Teen Council also plays an important role in civic engagement and encourages teens to help initiate lasting, positive change in their local community through the Teens Leading Change initiative. Please join us at our next meeting if you are between the ages of 11-18 and are interested in making the library and your community more meaningful places for teens and youth.
Desired Volunteer Schedule:
- Teen Volunteer Orientation is usually the last Monday of the month @4pm.
- TC/TLC meetings happen twice monthly on Saturdays at 1pm. The next TC meeting for #32EAGLRK will be on 9/4/21 @1pm.

Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Public Library provides free and easy access to information, ideas, books and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual in our city's diverse communities.
Description
The Los Angeles Public Library is largest public research institution west of the Mississippi.
With more than 70 branch libraries and Central Library subject departments serving millions of Angelenos on a yearly basis, our programs are supported by thousands of volunteers in a variety of capacities. Whether providing one on one literacy tutoring, cutting out craft supplies for story time activities, helping serve summer lunch at the library, or serving as a Friend of the Library, all volunteers play a role in the work of LAPL.
If you would like to volunteer, but don't see a listing that matches your interests, please contact your local branch or the Volunteer Engagement Office. Opportunities and needs vary by location and fluctuate throughout the year.
Please note that the minimum age for volunteers is 14 (with the exception of 11-13-year-olds joining Teen Councils), minimum time commitments are required for most opportunities, adult volunteers working with children will be fingerprinted, and LAPL does not accept court-mandated community service.
