Senior Companion Program

The Senior Companion Program provides support and companionship to those that need increased assistance for daily living tasks and helps to improve quality of life. The program aims to keep seniors independent longer and to provide assistance to family and caregivers. Senior Companions serve as little as 5 hours up to 40 hours per week helping an average of 2-4 adult clients. Volunteers serve in their own local community in client’s homes as well as senior centers and living facilities.

Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparent volunteers are role models, mentors, and friends to the children they serve. The Foster Grandparent Program supports local schools, before and after school programs, foster care agencies, developmental disability centers, etc. The program is designed for volunteers to serve children age 21 and under (with the exception of a child with a disability in which case can be served after the 21 st birthday under specified conditions) by providing support and increasing student’s readiness and ability to meet academic goals.

Requirements to Serve

  • Applicants must be 55 years or older
  • Must meet Federal income guidelines to receive stipend. If income exceeds eligibility guidelines, volunteers can serve alongside stipend volunteers with equal and consistent treatment
  • Undergo both State and Federal background checks

Catholic Charities West Michigan: Since 1946, we have been providing services to the most vulnerable populations in West Michigan. We are a community-based agency providing programs in Western Michigan, and offering a variety of services ranging from prevention and education to crisis intervention. All programs are designed to help families and individuals succeed.
