The Triunfadores College Prep Program (CPP) strives to support K-12 students in school and through their journey to attend college. As a volunteer, you will be trained to tutor, mentor, and provide guidance to students so they may succeed academically and reach their goals.

To learn more about the program, please read the Program Description.

Weekly Sessions:

Location: Virtually via Zoom

Date/Time: Tuesdays, 5:45 PM - 7:30 PM

This is a year-long commitment, meaning you will be volunteering throughout the fall and spring semesters. We will provide a more detailed calendar, with University of Florida and Alachua County Public School holidays listed as non-tutoring dates. The tentative last day of tutoring will be the final week of classes at the University of Florida (April 19th).

Remote Volunteering Update:

For the Fall 2021 semester, tutoring will take place virtually. Depending on how things progress, we may resume in-person tutoring at a later date, but this will be optional. If you are volunteering remotely because you are located outside the Alachua/Gainesville area, you will continue your tutoring sessions online, but local volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in face-to-face sessions once it is deemed safe to do so. The weekly commitment remains the same as volunteers are expected to connect with their student virtually or in-person.

Mission Statement

Children Beyond Our Borders, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Gainesville, Florida whose mission is to improve the quality of life and provide sustainable access to education for vulnerable students in the US and Latin America. MISSION Our mission is to work to eliminate barriers to education and provide a foundation for quality of life improvements for vulnerable children at home and in Latin America. We do this by providing: 1. Academic support and mentoring support through workshops, tutoring services and college prep for all children in grades K-12. 2. Monthly Health Clinics and Health Fairs that aim to mitigate health-related needs of vulnerable children and their families. 3. Funding scholarships for college students in Colombia and guiding them with implementation of a service project in their community.

Description

Through the IAMCBOB Scholarship program, CBOB provides college funding for selected scholars in Colombia while guiding scholars to establish local community service programs. Through the Children Within Our Borders, our local branch of CBOB - CWOB provides comprehensive tutoring and mentorship for at-risk K-12 students living in Alachua county through our Triunfadores College Prep Program along with hosting monthly health clinic and periodic health fairs organized by our Health Initiative team to provide access to basic health services. Through the Bound for Peace service program, CBOB organizes week long service trips and virtual service trips to Colombia where motivated university level students and professionals in the US design and implement educational workshops for young students. The heart of CBOB is our Volunteer Internship Program (VIP) where university level students are empowered to take ownership of respective programs and responsibilities within the organization, gaining valuable leadership experience and often leveraging the CBOB platform to expand our reach and launch new programs.
