Do you have a passion for empowering youth in their academic endeavors? Are you a college student who is looking for volunteer experience? Consider playing an important role in the largest Muslim Social Services organization in Ohio! MY Project USA is looking for several college students to serve as volunteer tutors for refugee and immigrant middle school and high school students. Tutoring sessions will take place at the Hilltop Youth Empowerment Center, located at 3275 Sullivant Ave, Columbus, Ohio.
Our tutoring program runs Monday - Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Tutors will be expected to be onsite on their selected days from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for tutoring refugee and immigrant middle school and high school students in a range of subjects
- Completing brief administrative tasks following the end of tutoring sessions
Requirements:
- Comfortable with grade 6-12 subject matter
- Availability during the work week between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM
- Currently in a college or university
- Reliable transportation to/from the Hilltop Youth Empowerment Center
- Desire to work with refugee and immigrant middle school and high school students
- Desire in assisting the mission of MY Project USA: To protect and empower American youth
- Resume and cover letter expressing interest
Desired:
- Strong foundation in middle school and high school level sciences/mathematics
- Experience working with middle school and high school youth
- Experience in tutoring
- Individuals with immigrant and/or refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply
Requires background check and drug test as you will be working with individuals under the age of 18. MY Project USA will reimburse applicants for a clear result on these checks.

- Background Check
- Volunteers must be present on their selected days of the week from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A reliable form of transportation to/from the Hilltop Youth Empowerment Center is also required.
- MY Project USA requires both a clear drug test and background check from all applicants. Applicants who pass both will be reimbursed for any accrued costs.
