ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties

Provide compassion and solace during moments of distress for evacuees of local disasters, such as wildfires or multi family home fires. In person shelter support to assist with reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection, and other vital tasks to help those we serve.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Have valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to work long hours fully masked indoors.
  • All training provided. Estimated 3 hours training time, online.
  • If, local area disaster (within 50 mile radius) shifts are typically 6-8 hours/day (sometimes up to 12 hours).
  • Typically requires availability to work 5 days (non consecutive) during a local response.
  • Time Commitment: Due to the training requirements, we seek volunteers able to spend at least 1 year with us.
(Optional Scenario) Deploying outside of the SoCal Region:
  • Once fully trained, you will have the opportunity to travel to another disaster location and take on a 14-day commitment (with one day off), with 8-12 hr. shifts each day.
