Event Description:
Join Chavis and Dorothea Dix in facilitating the Open Streets Event on October 17th! This event will promote the new stroll-way between the two parks. Volunteers will guide visitors along Lenoir Street (which will be blocked-off for pedestrians).
Volunteer Duties:
- Activity Assistants - Provides information to event attendees and will also support event activities.
- Street Assistants - Greets patrons, monitors street closures, and supports event logistics.
Volunteer Impact:
Volunteers will serve and interact with the community to provide an exceptional experience for all who visit.
Work Environment:
This event will take place outdoors and will have a festival-like atmosphere. There will be uneven grounds and volunteers will be on their feet frequently. There will be a restroom on site.
Volunteer Requirements:
Pre-registration is required. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old. All volunteers will need to fill out a release form.
Other Instructions:
Snacks and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear cool, comfortable clothing. Additional volunteer instructions will be provided closer the event.
COVID-19 Policy:
Volunteers and staff must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.
- Social distancing must be practiced (6-feet between individuals)
- Everyone must wear a face mask or face shield (not provided) while within 6 feet of a person from another household
- State, federal, and local mandates must be followed
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please do not register
Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email rachel.vannoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
