Join City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department staff as we host the Dorothea Dix Invitational 5k Race. This race is an invitational race for local high school cross country teams and will consist of multiple races and an awards ceremony at the end.
Volunteers will be helping at the finish line, helping to man the water station and hospitality tent, monitor the track, calling split times, and cheering on racers.
We will be sending out detailed maps of where to park and day-of logistics prior to the event. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers. Please bring a filled water bottle. We will provide sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit.
We will be working outside and in a fast-paced environment that could get noisy due to the crowd. The ground is uneven as the event is located mostly in a grass field. Port-a-johns will be on site. Please dress for the weather and remember to hydrate and eat prior to the event.
All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. We will send out release forms prior to the event that all volunteers will need to sign. Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign their form.
Any volunteers working at the finish line will be required to wear a mask (not provided).
