Advocacy team Members are very important to ECHO and assist our neighbors (clients) in the following:

  • housing or shelter needs
  • financial assistance or resources
  • childcare resources
  • SNAP/ unemployment navigation
There are three volunteer positions that fall under the Advocacy Department. All require volunteers to be computer proficient, mindful, discreet and must submit to a background check. All volunteers will be trained in the UNITY database. The Neighbor Advocate position will have additional one on one training with the Center Director.

ECHO volunteer hours are weekdays - Monday thru Friday from 9am to 1pm or until the last neighbor is seen. A typical day for a volunteer will be from 9am to 1pm so someone who can dedicate four hours at a time is preferable.

Advocacy Data Entry Specialist
We are in need of volunteers for data entry and have an attention to detail. This position has little to no interaction with our neighbors but does require computer proficiency.

Advocacy Intake Specialist

We are in need of volunteers willing to welcome our neighbors and make them comfortable, obtain information from them and make sure they have all their required documentation. This position requires some data entry but we most need individuals with active listening skills and empathy towards others.

Neighbor Advocate

We are also in need of volunteers willing to work with our neighbors one on one guiding them thru the entire process in the Advocacy Department. Must be able to maintain composure while assisting neighbors in crisis situations.

For more details regarding this volunteer position, please contact Iris directly at advocate@echofl.org.
