Advocacy team Members are very important to ECHO and assist our neighbors (clients) in the following:
- housing or shelter needs
- financial assistance or resources
- childcare resources
- SNAP/ unemployment navigation
ECHO volunteer hours are weekdays - Monday thru Friday from 9am to 1pm or until the last neighbor is seen. A typical day for a volunteer will be from 9am to 1pm so someone who can dedicate four hours at a time is preferable.
Advocacy Data Entry Specialist
We are in need of volunteers for data entry and have an attention to detail. This position has little to no interaction with our neighbors but does require computer proficiency.
Advocacy Intake Specialist
We are in need of volunteers willing to welcome our neighbors and make them comfortable, obtain information from them and make sure they have all their required documentation. This position requires some data entry but we most need individuals with active listening skills and empathy towards others.
Neighbor Advocate
We are also in need of volunteers willing to work with our neighbors one on one guiding them thru the entire process in the Advocacy Department. Must be able to maintain composure while assisting neighbors in crisis situations.

Description
Established in 1987, the Emergency Care Help Organization (E.C.H.O.) of Brandon is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community emergency food and disaster relief organization. Families who are having trouble making ends meet are given food, clothing, and household items assistance. E.C.H.O. provides help to Greater Brandon area single parents, homeless persons, retirees, families in transition, under-employed and unemployed households, grandparents raising grandchildren and others in need.
