We are looking for a male volunteer to mentor an 18-year-old youth from Guatemala in our refugee foster care program. He has been in the United States since December of 2020. He spent his first eight months in one of our residential group homes and now lives in our Semi-Independent Living Plus group home with five other youth.
In his mentoring survey, this youth shared that he is a mix of talkative and quiet. He prefers to go out and do new things instead of stay at home. Activities he enjoys include going out to explore new places and fishing, which helps him feel relaxed and peaceful. He is currently interested in a career as an electrician, but he is also interested in pursuing music. Mentoring activities he is interested in include exploring the city, learning new skills, outdoor activities, playing sports, playing video games, watching movies, going to museums/concerts, and learning more about college and career.

Bethany demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families through quality social services.
Description
For refugees fleeing danger, the search for safety can be extremely challenging. And too often, people become numbers in a system that can feel impossible to navigate. That’s why we guide, protect, advocate for, and support refugees. In the U.S., we offer resettlement and continued support services in strategic locations.
Bethany Christian Services' Refugee and Immigrant Services program encompasses adult and family resettlement as well as refugee foster care for Unaccompanied Children and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Our services for unaccompanied refugee youth include case management, counseling, housing (foster homes, group homes, independent living), classes (New Arrival, Life Skills, driver's training), and volunteer mentoring and tutoring.
