Nancy's Project needs volunteers who can drive our van to help load donated groceries at stores in Pacific Grove and Carmel. We are in search of fill-in drivers on Mon-Tues-Wed-Fri, on an as needed basis. Drivers leave our storage unit at about 7:45 am on Mon and Fri, 8:45 on Tues and Wed. At the grocery stores, volunteers will meet you there to help load the donated food on to the van, after which the driver returns the van to the storage unit, typically by 10:30 am. Volunteers at the loading sites will be working outside with another volunteer while loading, rain or shine.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with loading donated food at our partner grocery stores. This shift would be shorter, being that you would just meet the driver at the site.

Both drivers and loaders should be able to lift 25 pounds.

  • morning / 07:30 AM to 10:30 AM
    Fill In Drivers Needed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Description

Nancy’s Project exists to reduce food insecurity and increase access to essential household goods for Monterey County families who grow the fresh food others enjoy but which they can seldom afford to purchase themselves. Nancy’s Project volunteers collect surplus food from partner grocers five days a week for distribution in farm communities throughout the Salinas Valley.
