Job Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator assists with all aspects of the volunteer program including communications, retention, recognition, recruitment and placement, assists all volunteer orientations, training, and recognition events, as well as facilitates effective communication with volunteers via email, in-person and by phone. Providing effective database management, data collection and analysis is also a central responsibility of the Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Serve as a liaison between the AIR Directors and volunteers
  • Assist in communicating with individuals and groups who wish to volunteer for the organization as well as with current volunteers
  • Strive to maintain a positive and supportive environment for volunteers
  • Provide daily management and coordination of volunteers
  • Respond to inquiries about the volunteer program
  • Assist with volunteer orientations and trainings including scheduling, set-up and presentations as required
  • Develop, prepare and distribute training and policy materials for the volunteer program
  • Maintain the volunteer database
  • Help plan and implement volunteer recognition events and volunteer/staff gatherings
  • Be available to coordinate volunteers to support AIR staff during emergencies (i.e. evacuations, hoarding/mass intake cases, etc.), as needed
  • Recruits volunteers for fundraising and special events
  • Keep all volunteer materials and programs up to date, and provide all volunteers with appropriate orientation materials
  • Report new volunteers recruited
  • Sends out a newsletter to all volunteers with updates, events, and other pertinent information
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate effective volunteer recruitment and retention

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Available to work flexible scheduling if required

Animal Investigation and Response's mission is to connect law enforcement, animal control and communities with strategies and resources to to assist with large scale cases of animal abuse. It is also our mission to provide skilled and certified resources for disaster response needs.

Description

Animal Investigation and Response is a 501(c)(3) animal protection organization that assists law enforcement, animal control agencies and communities with animal abuse related issues such as puppy mills and animal hoarding as well as, assists in disaster relief. Based in Texas, Animal Investigation and Response was formed by two certified animal cruelty investigators who saw a need to help connect agencies with strategies and resources to investigate as well as provide aid for situations that exceed the scope of a communities reach.
