At the Austin17House our mission is To Build Creativity, Confidence and Resilience in the Youth and Families in our Communities . What better way to follow our mission than through the Arts - where these key components have been driving and inspiring Artists throughout all the disciplines the creative world has to offer.
Mentors and Volunteer Role Models work diligently to guide the participants in explorations of their respective discipline while encouraging opportunities to share their knowledge and growing talents through Auditions, Gigs, Exhibits and Showcases to name a few. These creative opportunities help grow the participants' sense of self-worth, confidence, social-resilience and pride in their unique individuality.

Mission Statement
To build creativity, confidence, and resilience in the youth and families in our communities.
Description
Austin17House is a nonprofit youth and family community center that provides mentoring programs for middle and high school youth in the greater Rockingham County area. For many youth today, there is a lack of confidence, purpose and vision for their future. This lack of purpose leads to low self-esteem and participation in negative activities which can lead to addiction, mental illness, problems in school and absence of motivation to give outside of oneself. We believe that by giving youth hands on things to do, while promoting each individual's creative talents, it will give them the confidence they need to be prepared and empowered to achieve their goals.
Our programs are offered in partnership with local community members, school districts, coalitions, clubs, subject matter experts and juvenile court systems. These partnerships allow for our youth and families to be connected with current partners in our area. By meeting and working alongside others we can build solid relationships and make a larger impact in our communities together.
Overtime, Austin17House has also found a need for stronger, healthy family units. Our programs for families aim to equip and educate on current matters that impact our youth today including suicide prevention, understanding teen depression, preventing substance misuse and addiction and building resiliency.
